Christopher Travel × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.

A July study.

Christopher Travel is Mary and Rick Stephens' boutique cruise agency in Anchorage, Alaska – luxury sailings with a particular love for Alaska, the South Pacific and full world cruises. Their monogram is an antique key embraced by a calligraphic C, and their motto explains it in Latin: RECLUDIMUS MUNDUM. We unlock the world. A brand that keeps its promise in a dead language is our kind of brand.

The mark, as found

Pressed

Navy blueberry for the dark water their gold was made to sit on, sicilian brown for the bronze end of that gold, and black – where an antique key belongs.

The world, unlocked

Then the second die, taking the motto at its word: a padlock whose body is the globe, their key already in it, mid-turn.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
