Classic Travel by Pam × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.
A July study.
Classic Travel by Pam plans trips from Hoover, Alabama, and the story behind the name is a patient one. Pam began booking travel part-time in 2009, alongside a sales job, and by 2010 the sideline had become the whole job. The site reads “Your Travel Consultant”, and the work runs from destination weddings and honeymoons to multigenerational journeys where three generations share one itinerary. Hoover named the practice its Best Travel Agent and Best Travel Agency for 2025 and again for 2026. A town repeating a compliment tends to mean it.
The mark earned the die on sight. High-contrast serif capitals spell CLASSIC TRAVEL, with BY PAM letterspaced small underneath, and off to the right a thin circular flourish loops like a route drawn on a globe. That loop carries tiny curved words, and we argued with ourselves about it for a while. A line that fine will press cleanly; lettering hidden inside it will close up and blur in leather. So the loop stays and the tiny copy goes, which is the sort of trade a stamp asks of nearly every wordmark it meets.
The mark, as found

Pressed lengthwise
The wordmark ran lengthwise across a pale gray-sand and a cool country gray, the two quiet neutrals the brand's own pages already keep. Black is the third leather, and it takes the mark in gold foil.

The Luggage Family
Three hard-sided cases stand on one shared baseline, sized in descending order like a family arranged for the photographer, the tallest for the grandparents and the smallest standing perfectly upright at the end of the row. Each case is the same vintage design, a rounded-corner upright with a D-handle centered on top. Two latches and one plain strap line mark every face. Beneath the baseline a single line of capitals reads CLASSIC TRAVEL BY PAM. We drew it for the multigenerational trips the agency plans, where the itinerary is shared and the luggage comes in every size.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
