Collier Travel Collective × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.

A July study.

Collier Travel Collective is a boutique travel agency in Birmingham, Alabama, run as a two-person planning team. Allison has planned travel for over a decade and has been to 91 countries; Adelia counts 25 and rising, with a particular love for honeymoons. Between them the site claims 21 years of firsthand experience, and their planning language keeps circling one balance – trips built for exploring and for resting in equal measure. What drew us in was the wordmark. A white stacked serif lockup, high-fashion in its contrast, with an extended hairline curl on the initial C and a long diagonal flourish through the A of TRAVEL. Letterforms that fine are a genuine test for a die.

The mark, as found

Pressed lengthwise

The lockup runs lengthwise along the tag, the way the eye already reads it. Blueberry follows the dark ink field the white wordmark sits on, and gray-sand follows the warm neutral of their photography. Black carries the gold foil. We thickened the hairlines a touch so a 2 mm deboss would hold them – the curl on the C kept its identity, though we went back and forth on how much weight it could carry before it stopped feeling like their C.

Two planners, one itinerary

Collective is in the name, and the working method backs it up – drafts passed between two planners until the trip settles. So the companion draws that as geography. Two routes start apart and merge into a single map pin, set above the words TWO PLANNERS and ONE ITINERARY. Portrait, so it reads downward like a route.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
