COSAL Travel × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.

A July study.

COSAL Travel is Andrea Blackmon's boutique agency in Ventura, California – a Fora-affiliated, Virtuoso-tier shop for "boutique and luxury escapes," run by an advisor who grew up along the central coast and has thirty-four countries in her passport. Her name reached us as plain black type, and her whole visual world – teal sea, limestone, terracotta – asked for something drawn from the shoreline.

The mark this study proposes reads her initial as geography: a capital C drawn as a cove of coastline, and floating in its shelter, one small island on a water line – the Channel Islands, seen from her coast.

New COSAL Travel mark - a capital C drawn as a cove holding a small island

Pressed

Caramel for the sun-baked limestone her heroes glow with, a pale sea-blue for the escape itself, and black for the gold pass.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
