Discount Trip Source × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

Discount Trip Source is a travel agency in Mountain Home, Arkansas, where consultants Camie Boskus and Beth Gentry plan leisure and group travel, missionary groups among their regulars. The agency counts more than 35 years of travel experience and describes its research as leaving “no stone left unturned.” Its working promise is plainer and better: “We go the EXTRA MILE for our clients.”
The mark earns its keep. A sixteen-point compass rose anchors the left of the lockup, cardinal letters at its tips, and beside it the name runs in two weights – bold black DISCOUNT over an italic navy TRIP SOURCE. Compass roses come from the engraver's world, and fine radial points take a deboss the way a chart takes ink. Sixteen of them are also a lot to ask of brass; we suspect the minor points would soften a touch in a real die, and we can live with that. We had to try.

The deep travel navy in their compass pointed us to blueberry, and the brighter blues on their site earned turquoise a place beside it. Black carries the gold foil, as black does.
The extra mile
Their two proudest claims wanted to share one drawing, so we let them. We call it Mile 35, Plus One. A rounded roadside milestone, drawn in bold outline, carries MILE over 35 – the years. From the base of the stone the ground line runs on as a dashed road, five long dashes to a small arrowhead, one full measure past the place where a road might politely stop. Beneath the scene, in plain capitals, their own words: WE GO THE EXTRA MILE.
