El Bandido Yankee Tequila Company × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

An August study.

For El Bandido Yankee Tequila Company.

First, the warm-up. We pressed the masked outlaw on the luggage tags, in the leathers nearest the mark's own colors – pale sea-blue for the halo, pale warm greige for the parchment letters. The black tag carries the gold.

Next, the getaway. "Clean getaway" is their own phrase, so we cut a passport exit stamp that fails at its one job – the dashed route slips between two highland agaves and breaks clean through the border, arrow out.

On the tags it runs lengthwise, in golden tan and pale sea-blue. The black tag carries the gold.

Then the toiletry bags, black over deep espresso, the stamp kept low in the corner. On black the deboss reads as pure shadow – the right register for a getaway.

Keychains in pale sea-blue and black. The black fob carries the gold.

Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

A passport cover felt obligatory here – a spirit raised in the Jalisco highlands knows its way across a border. Pale sea-blue and black, blind deboss.

Journals in deep espresso and pale greige, the stamp low on the cover.

And finally, the slow one. Blue Weber agave stands eight years in the highland ground before it earns the stone ovens, so we ringed the rosette with eight countable rings, one for each year.

We pressed it on journals in deep green and warm tan – eight years is fair patience for anything worth writing down.

Looks absolutely gorgeous when stamped onto the leather.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
