Explorateur Travel × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.
A July study.
Explorateur Travel is a Virtuoso agency in Lafayette, Louisiana – founded in 2015, owned since 2022 by Kim Hebert and Jordan Rush. They build tailor-made trips, honeymoons to safaris, around a plain promise: travel “as unique as you are,” from people whose stated aim is to help you feel your destination.
The wordmark is the best kind of long: eleven high-contrast serif capitals with an eight-point compass star riding inside the O. Long marks are welcome at this bench – they get the tag's whole spine.
The mark, as found

Pressed lengthwise
A honeyed amber to echo their burnt orange, dark espresso for the quiet one, and black for the gold pass.

The passport stamp
Then the study kept going – an explorateur's passport deserves its own ink. A second die: a roundel with their compass at the center, its north point drawn as a fleur-de-lis, the flower Lafayette wears on everything. A compass that points home.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
