Fink × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

An August study.

For Fink.

For the warm-up, we put the fink wordmark on the luggage tags, lengthwise. Two tags wear the album's own vinyl editions, spring fern and winter gorse; the third is black. The black tag carries the gold.

First, we took the album title at its word. The city – one solid black mass of towers – works like an eraser across a line-drawn Cornish hillside, and where it has already passed, the hills are crumbs.

It looks genuinely beautiful.

A journal is where the landscape gets written down before the city reaches it – so the same stamp presses into the corner of the leather journals, deep green and pale greige.

Next, the home on wheels – a Cornish cottage set on a van chassis, rolling a road that rings every venue from Vilnius to Edinburgh. We pressed it on the keychains, because the keys to the van belong on it.

The same stamp rides the corner of the toiletry bags, golden tan over deep brown – gorse over earth.

And finally, I BURIED ALL THE ANSWERS – a spade standing in a mound of turned earth, pressed into the golden tan catchall tray. Whatever the night ends with gets buried here, and dug up again at load-in.
