Global Dream Vacations × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.
A July study.
Global Dream Vacations is a turn-key travel concierge in Owasso, Oklahoma. The promise sits right on the door, ampersand and all: “You Dream & Leave the Details to us.” They have kept that bargain through more than twenty years of adviser-led planning, and the advisers are named on the site, Laura Elmore first among them. The practices run wide, from river cruises to girls’ getaways and so on, that last one built, in their telling, around laughter and unhurried time together.
Another line of theirs stayed with us: “Your Dream Vacation Deserves More Than A Google Search.” We would say the same of a good wordmark, and theirs is a good one. GLOBAL DREAM in a deep navy serif, the G and the L joined underneath by a single low flourish. Below it, a long ochre-gold rule holds up VACATIONS, small and widely tracked. Two colors that already think like leather. A mark like this asks for the press the way a long word asks for a wide tag.

Blueberry takes the navy of the type nearly ink for ink, and Caramel gives the ochre rule a hide of its own. Black carries the whole mark in gold. That long rule worried us at tag width, since a line so thin can close up under the die; it held, and the flourish beneath the G and L held with it.
Leave the details to us
The suitcase does the dreaming here. It sits closed, handle up, while a globe drifts overhead in a thought bubble, and the promise runs alongside in their own words: YOU DREAM & LEAVE THE DETAILS TO US. We drew the globe loose on purpose; a dream rendered too exactly stops being a dream, or so we told ourselves at the bench.
