Good Trip Travel Co. × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.

A July study.

Good Trip Travel Co. is Victoria Ogier's boutique travel agency in Ankeny, Iowa, and the name is the whole promise in two friendly words. Victoria came to travel in 2014 after years in economic development, which is to say she studied what makes a place worth arriving in before she made a business of sending people there. The agency plans luxury trips and destination weddings, and it builds curated group journeys for people who like traveling in company. In 2025 it outgrew its rooms and took a larger property in Uptown Ankeny, a home for client gatherings and travel workshops.

The wordmark is why it landed on our bench. Chunky lowercase letters in a very dark blue-black, ink at midnight, with a tiny map waypoint perched over the i. A route-like line runs under the name, and beneath it smaller capitals spell TRAVEL CO. A mark that already carries a journey inside it asks little of a stamp maker beyond honesty, and our one worry was scale; at luggage-tag size that waypoint is close to a pinprick. In the renders it survives, though barely, and we find we like it better small. Whether it would keep its shape on a worn die after a thousand pressings is a fair question, and we leave it open.

Pressed lengthwise

Country gray gives the blue-black wordmark a calm mapmaker's ground, while indian summer answers it with the warmth of an Iowa main street in early October. Black takes the gold, and the tag turns to evening.

The smiling route

The line under their wordmark wanted more room, so we gave it a design of its own. Two map pins joined by a route that curves into a smile, the whole figure reading GOOD TRIP. One pin for leaving, one for coming home. It says what the agency has been saying since 2014, in a single stroke.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
