Kim Duong × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

An August study.

For Kim Duong.

First, we minted a coin. Kim's one test for any product is whether it is actually worth a reader's hard-earned cash – so the rim reads WORTH EVERY PENNY, and the center settles the question with a single word.

We pressed it into the base of a catchall tray, which is where the day's pennies land anyway.

The same coin went on a trio of luggage tags in vivid magenta and pale rose. The black tag carries the gold.

Next, the dog. Kim's bio promises bottomless cute dog content, so we drew one trotting home with a little shopping bag in its teeth, under the words SUCH A GOOD BUY.

It looks genuinely great on the keychains – warm tan and vivid magenta.

Then the toiletry bags. Packing a dopp kit is the same discipline as editing a shopping page – ONLY THE GOOD STUFF makes it in. The stamp sits small in the corner and says exactly that, with one star over the door.

And finally, the one from the article. The third-anniversary roundup Kim co-wrote calls leather the year-three material because it is strong and resilient – so we built the Roman numeral III out of three buckled straps and set THE THIRD YEAR IS LEATHER beneath it.

Stamped on journals in deep wine and pale rose – somewhere to write the third year down. Looks absolutely gorgeous when stamped onto the leather.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
