Lori Blount Travel × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.
A July study.
Lori Blount Travel plans premium and luxury travel from Madison, Mississippi. Lori founded the agency in 2012, and her specialties are the kind a traveler dreams in: Europe, and cruising on river and ocean alike. Her stated aim is to make the whole business of planning “easy, enjoyable and stress-free”, which is a modest way of describing fourteen years of doing other people's worrying for them. The name on her site sits as plain dark-blue type beside a phone number. That plainness drew us. A practice this seasoned has earned a mark of its own, and until one exists, the honest thing to press is the name as found.

The mark this study proposes
The proposal draws one line for the river and lets it widen into the sea, with a small liner riding above. Beneath the water sits LORI BLOUNT TRAVEL over EST 2012. We went back and forth on the liner; at full size it charmed us, and at stamp size it survives as little more than a silhouette, which turned out to be enough.

Pressed
Blueberry follows the dark blue of her site type, and gray-sand follows the pale ground it sits on. Black takes the gold foil, as black always does here.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
