Luxury Atlas Travel × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.
A July study.
Luxury Atlas Travel is a young agency in Newport, Rhode Island, with one line on its site that does all the talking: “Explore the World in Luxury.” The name reached our bench as plain letterspaced type, and a name like Atlas deserves more than type – it comes with a job description.
Atlas holds the world up. So the mark this study proposes is exactly that: a bold capital A carrying a globe on its apex – one circle, one meridian, one parallel, nothing finer than a two-millimetre brass die can hold. Newport is America's sailing capital; a mark like this belongs on luggage that boards boats.

The mark this study proposes

Pressed
A pale sea-blue for the water their world floats on, caramel for teak decks and old atlases, and black, because gold belongs on black.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
