M Financial Group × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

An August study.

For M Financial Group.

For the warm-up, we put the M Financial Group logo on the luggage tags – the three bays and the lintel hold every line at tag scale. Navy and pale greige carry the mark blind. The black tag carries it in gold.

The official M Financial Group architectural mark prepared as a black leather-stamp plate.

Next, we opened the monogram up. The square M is already architecture – uprights beneath one lintel – so we drew the whole network that way: seven columns, no two cut alike, a fluted classic beside a plain square pier and so on, every one carrying the same beam. Beneath it, their own words: OUR DIFFERENCE IS OUR STRENGTH.

Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

Then the colonnade traveled across the line – the catchall tray in golden tan, and the journals in navy and pale greige, where the beam sits over whatever gets planned next.

And finally, a piece of the lore. The first national Marketing Meeting convened at Nebraska's Longbranch Saloon in 1979, and every gathering since – ranch finale or Miami evening – has walked in through those doors. We hung the doors on the keychains, caught mid-swing, with the date beneath.

Keychains with the saloon doors look just awesome too.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
