Midwest Applied Solutions × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

An August study.

For Midwest Applied Solutions.

First, the warm-up – we pressed the Midwest Applied Solutions logo onto a stack of toiletry bags, navy over dark espresso. The folded planes of the mark come through cleanly in blind deboss.

Next, we designed a stamp for the trade itself. Rough air tumbles in from the top and passes through a louver; it leaves the other side straight – AIR, HANDLED.

The luggage-tag trio takes its colors from their mark: navy and deep green for the folded planes, pale warm greige for the white space between them.

The keychains keep to the two colors of the symbol. Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

Then the catchall tray in golden tan – the place on the desk where keys and coins land, handled.

And finally, the journals. Their case studies include a retrofit inside the Chicago Board of Trade, so we drew the old tower standing easy in a stream of moving air – CHICAGO BREATHES. One journal in navy, one in the warm mid-gray of limestone.

It looks genuinely beautiful.
