Three luggage-tag studies for MTZ Building Solutions

An August study.
A brace that bears weight, a bubble centered, and a measure run end to end
MTZ Building Solutions presents a California design-build contractor working across commercial, industrial, civil, emergency, and specialty-trade projects. Its public material describes more than 50 skilled professionals, work across 14 counties, and a single-source range that runs from pre-construction and permits through site preparation, construction, systems, finishes, and closeout.
The visible identity is compact and structural: three strong letter blocks in white over dark project imagery, with construction orange, squared service modules, long rules, vertical posts, and one emphatic diagonal. These independent studies do not reproduce the initials, wordmark, certifications, or project photography. Instead, the post-and-beam and diagonal become a real sawhorse; the three-block cadence becomes three open windows in a spirit level; and the long orange rule becomes the extended blade of a tape measure.
As leather luggage tags, the designs could be considered for approved field and office teams, project leads, safety milestones, supplier or subcontractor appreciation, client closeouts, trade events, leadership travel, and year-end recognition. The first read is deliberately practical: a support ready for work, a tool checked true, and a measurement carried from start to finish.
Leather and treatment
Matte charcoal, construction orange, and natural tan turn the public palette into a durable travel set. Deep tonal impressions feel field-ready and understated; restrained antique-brass on tan makes the identical artwork suitable for a warmer completion or service keepsake.
The three concepts
1. The Sawhorse
A bold side-view sawhorse carries one steep cross-brace beneath its top beam. Anyone recognizes the jobsite support immediately; its brace and beam-on-post joint quietly rebuild the most distinctive diagonal and structural relationship in MTZ’s visible identity.
2. Dead Level
A long box-beam level holds three equal open windows and one bubble precisely at center. The tool says careful work without explanation, while its three-part negative-space rhythm translates the compact block cadence and squared service modules of the public system.
3. Start to Finish
A rounded tape housing sends one marked blade across the full field to a downturned hook. It is an everyday measuring tool first; the long run converts MTZ’s horizontal accent rule and planning-to-delivery sequence into one useful, complete action.
