My Tailored Escape × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

A July study.
My Tailored Escape plans custom journeys for curious travelers, shaping culture and food to each traveler’s pace and purpose. The homepage promises trips that engage all five senses and balance cultural immersion with rejuvenating comfort; the sequence it sketches ends with the traveler returning home refreshed, carrying memories worth the name. Two of its lines stayed with us: “The Escape You Need / designed exactly as you imagine” and “The Best Escapes / are designed with purpose.” Corroborating sources place the practice in Beltsville, Maryland, under founder and travel advisor Antoinette Harris; we offer both details as our own reading, since the current homepage keeps them off the page.
The name did the asking. “Tailored” is workbench language, and a studio that spends its days pressing marks into hide hears a cousin in a travel agency named for the fitting room. Their wordmark – a navy italic serif over the widely spaced capitals ESCAPE – is graceful and entirely typographic, which gave us both an original to honor and a reason to attempt a device of our own.

The mark this study proposes
The needle takes the agency at its word. Its stitched thread lifts off the fabric and becomes a curving travel route, dashed the way stitches are, arcing above MY TAILORED ESCAPE before it settles again. A needle is fair to borrow, generic as any workbasket’s, and the route it draws could be anyone’s next itinerary; together they hand this type-only lockup an owned device at last.
Pressed
Blueberry follows the navy of the wordmark, and gray-sand follows the warm pale grounds of their pages; both took the studies lengthwise. Black carries the gold foil. We did wonder whether the wide letterspacing of ESCAPE would hold in blind deboss at tag scale, since wide spacing tends to drift there, and the gray-sand proof settled it better than we expected.
We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
