Three luggage-tag studies for O'Brien & Ryan

Close attention, shared work, orderly preparation
O'Brien & Ryan, LLP is a Plymouth Meeting litigation firm serving public and private clients in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Its public presentation emphasizes experience, dedication, energy, personal attention, and careful work across complex professional and institutional matters.
The firm's identity combines a high-contrast serif name with one unusually long horizontal rule that stops before a smaller sans-serif label. An ampersand joins two names; below, three short words create a measured cadence. Across the site, deep violet fields, a Philadelphia bridge, and small circular double-chevron buttons add movement without disturbing the formal structure. These studies use the quieter typographic ingredients rather than legal symbols.
As luggage tags, the concepts could recognize attorneys and staff, mark a firm anniversary or retreat, thank referral and professional partners, or accompany an adult continuing-education occasion where policy permits. They do not refer to clients, patients, matters, verdicts, or confidential work, and they avoid gavels, scales, columns, and courthouse seals.
Leather and treatment
Deep plum, charcoal, and warm tan leather carry the firm's violet, dark-neutral, and classic material register. Blind impressions keep the first two tags discreet; one antique-gold line gives the tan version a restrained formal finish.
The three concepts
1. The Long Rule Lamp
A desk lamp stretches one exceptionally long horizontal arm before ending in a small lit shade. The arm is the wordmark's signature rule made useful, directing careful light precisely where that rule stops.
2. Two Lenses, One Bridge
Two round lenses meet under a short arched bridge. Their geometry comes from the two enclosed counters and crossing connection of the ampersand, transformed into an ordinary tool for reading the same page together.
3. Three Folders in Step
Three tabbed folders stand on one continuous baseline, their tabs moving from left to center to right. The orderly row translates the identity's three-beat cadence into the plain mechanics of prepared work.
