Parks to Paradise Travel × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

A July study.
Parks to Paradise Travel is a New Mexico travel practice led by Karin Nguyen, its CEO and Principal Travel Advisor, who plans family adventures and beach escapes for people who keep postponing both. Her current line is “Someday isn't on the calendar. Let's stop waiting and start making memories now.” She means it plainly. Childhood runs on its own clock, and Karin describes her work as simplifying decisions until a trip feels intentional and effortless, which happens to be a fair description of what a good die does to a logo.
The mark earned the study on its own. “Parks to Paradise” sits title-case in a thin charcoal transitional serif, and beneath it TRAVEL runs in widely spaced capitals bracketed by a pair of turquoise waves, each a single shallow double-bend, one mirroring the other. That is a developed, owned lockup, and hairline serifs are the honest test of a stamp. Press too shallow and the thins vanish; go deep and the counters begin to close. We wanted to see whether brass could keep the wordmark's manner.

The full lockup runs the length of the tag, on a pale sea-blue that answers the two wave strokes and a pale gray-sand that keeps the charcoal-on-white calm of the found mark. Black takes the gold foil. The thins held better than we expected on the sand, though we would still cut this die a shade deeper before trusting it in a full run.
Someday
The companion design takes Karin's line at its word. A monthly calendar fills the tag in portrait, one square torn clean out of the grid, and beneath the grid runs SOMEDAY ISN'T ON THE CALENDAR. A missing day reads louder than a marked one. We debated whether the tear should look accidental or deliberate, and settled on deliberate; an accident asks for sympathy, and this line is an instruction.
We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
