Platinum Passport Travel Agency × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

A July study.
Platinum Passport Travel Agency plans journeys out of New Jersey under a line we would gladly hang above our own bench: “Travel is an art.” The agency arranges romantic travel and family escapes, and it will shape a river cruise or a wholly custom journey while handling the details from start to finish, by air and by sea, through Europe and the Caribbean. The founder designs and leads yoga retreats, and the site asks that travel be “transformative, enriching, and impeccably arranged.” We kept returning to those last two words. Impeccable arrangement is our trade too, only ours ends at a die and theirs at a departure gate.
The mark earns the study on its own. Two capital P’s interlock in royal blue, cut in a high-contrast Didone with broad stems and hairlines fine as thread. The second letter begins inside the first one’s upper bowl and drops its long descender past the shared baseline, so to our eye the pair becomes two passport pages caught mid-turn. The monogram stands alone on the page, and it can afford to.

Blueberry answers the royal blue of the monogram itself, and gray-sand keeps the white calm the agency sets it against. Black carries the interlock in gold foil. Portrait, since two tall letters ask for height. We worried over the hairlines; strokes that thin can close up under a die. In the renders they held, down to the crossing of the bowls, though we would still cut a test strip before promising anyone perfection.
“Travel is an art”
For the companion we took them at their word. An open passport stands on an easel the way a canvas would, a magnifying glass raised above it as the brush, and TRAVEL IS AN ART set beneath in capitals. On the tags it sits portrait as well, the easel’s legs giving the layout its height. An itinerary studied closely enough turns into a picture; we just supplied the frame.
We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
