Ready Jet Go Travels × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.

A July study.

Ready Jet Go Travels opens with two words, “Collect Memories”, and the rest of the practice keeps that promise's pace. Founder Chelsey Benkner is a travel advisor and industry mentor who builds stress-free custom vacations the concierge way, from European river cruises to bucket-list journeys, each one planned so the traveler can finally stop planning. She says she started the agency to help people slow down and connect more deeply, so that a trip becomes a story told for years afterward. She is raising eight children, which may be the sternest apprenticeship in logistics that exists, and she still names quiet mornings on the water among her own favorite things. We believe her on both counts.

The mark is what stopped us. A fine navy compass rose sits inside a double ring, four long cardinal points alternating with shorter diagonals, each petal faceted like folded paper, and beneath it a very large lower-case serif says ready jet go, with TRAVELS spaced wide below. The name is a countdown; the compass is the oldest instrument owned by people who intend to leave. A mark built that way asks to be pressed into something that travels with you.

The mark, as found

Pressed

Blueberry follows the deep navy of the live compass and wordmark, and gray-sand follows the pale, unhurried neutrals of their pages. Black is the automatic third and carries the gold foil. We did wonder whether the small facets inside the rose would hold at tag scale; in the render they do, though only a cut die settles that kind of question for good.

Ready, jet, go

The name hands us the design. We set READY JET GO along the length of the tag and let a small jet lift off from the runway at GO, nose up, the word doing double duty as tarmac. Pressed lengthwise, it reads like the moment the wheels leave the ground. Chelsey's whole practice is about the memory you bring home; this one is for the second the trip begins.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
