Rhode Island Travel × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.

A July study.

Rhode Island Travel is Tricia Adams and Michelle Weber's Virtuoso agency in Barrington – est. 2014, "Personalized Service | Individualized Experience" – with a two-sail sailboat gliding through the logo, as an Ocean State agency's should. Michelle also built something rarer: a faith-based travel program, pilgrimages and fellowship, Oberammergau on the horizon.

The mark, as found

Pressed

Navy blueberry for Narragansett Bay, caramel for the classic New England navy-and-tan of it, and black for the gold pass.

The anchor of hope

Then the second die – and here their state had already done the designing. Rhode Island's emblem is an anchor above one word: HOPE. The Ocean State's oldest promise, and the oldest Christian symbol of hope, in the same drawing. We pressed it for the travelers they send out and bring home.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
