Romance Globe Travel × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

A July study.
Romance Globe Travel plans “Extraordinary Honeymoons” and “Destination Weddings” from Scottsdale, Arizona. Owner Debi Kasen calls herself the agency’s “travel fairy,” the one who helps couples build the “over the top” version of the biggest trip of their lives. She honeymooned in Bora Bora herself and says she can talk about it endlessly, an admission we trust; anyone who can talk endlessly about one lagoon has been paying close attention to it. Her practice runs from the Caribbean across to the South Pacific, with Europe folded in, and she holds that a good advisor helps travelers sort fact from fiction in the flood of online photos and reviews.
The name is what stopped us. On the live site it reads ROMANCE GLOBE TRAVEL in thin, widely spaced serif capitals, set as plain page text, while a small floral spark of an ornament floats above in a separate element of its own. So there is a globe in the name and nowhere on the page. A business that carries its best image inside its own middle word, and leaves that image undrawn, reads to us like an open invitation.

The mark this study proposes
We drew the fairy her wand. A slim wand tips against a simple line globe and three sparkles rise from the touch; ROMANCE GLOBE TRAVEL sits beneath in the same patient capitals, so the whole stands portrait like a stamp on a passport page. The idea borrows Debi’s own name for herself and finally gives the middle word of the business a body. Those airy spaced serifs run thin for a deboss, so we let the strokes gain a little meat on the way to the die; we think the spacing forgives it.

Both versions went onto a pale sea-blue that follows the lagoon in Debi’s Bora Bora story and a soft blush that follows the wedding side of the house. Black with gold foil is the standing third, and a wand ought to leave a bit of gold behind.
We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
