Siren Song Travel × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.
A July study.
Siren Song Travel is Brittany Wilson's agency in Eagle, Idaho, and her line is the kind a founder earns before she prints it: “Vacations Are Calling.” She has answered that call more than thirty times by cruise ship alone. The map started early, with San Diego and Disneyland as a child, and has since widened through a dozen European countries and out across the water to Tahiti and the Panama Canal. Alaska is on it too. When an advisor's biography reads like a ship's manifest, the tagline earns its period.
The piece of the lockup that asked for a stamp is the shell, a rounded white fan divided by curved ribs that spread from a narrow base. The name promises a siren; the device she owns is quieter, and we liked that modesty. There is also a practical matter. White art on a white page simply vanishes, and this mark was born for dark water. Leather settles the question the old way, since a pressed line reads by shadow alone, whatever the ground.

Blueberry follows the deep ocean ground her white mark lives on, and gray-sand follows the shell with the lighter coastal neutrals around it. Black is the constant here, and it takes the lockup in gold foil.
The call
For the companion we set her shell ringing. Five ribs, and three arcs lifting off each side as if the fan were sounding, with VACATIONS ARE CALLING beneath in a portrait frame. We drew the arcs tighter on the first pass and they muddied the ribs; moved outward, the shell reads clean, though we still wonder whether a single arc per side would say it more softly.
We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
