Sky Blue Travel Group × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.
A July study.
Sky Blue Travel Group plans travel from Madison, Mississippi. Their site rests on one plain conviction, that using an advisor enhances the whole travel experience, and around it the current template invites you to browse advisor expertise, firsthand travel writing and so on. It is a group in earnest, several hands under a single name, which leaves the name to do the work a face would do elsewhere.
And what a name to hand that work to. Sky blue is the one color every traveler is guaranteed, the field outside the window seat for most of any flight. Yet the page that carries the name loads no mark at all; the template stays visually sparse, so our as-found record is the name in plain two-line type, SKY BLUE over TRAVEL GROUP, exactly as the site presents it.

The mark this study proposes
We drew a single aircraft cabin window, portrait the way cabin windows run, with one cloud riding above a low horizon, and set SKY BLUE over TRAVEL GROUP beneath it. We hesitated over the window at first, since every travel brand reaches for the sky eventually. The frame is what settled it. A window makes the sky a particular sky, the one you only get by going, and it returns the group's own conviction in picture form: the view improves when someone has arranged it for you.

Pressed
Turquoise answers the name as directly as leather can, and gray-sand keeps a quiet neutral beside it for an identity still finding its finished form. On black, the window prints in gold.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
