Socialite Auctions × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

An August study.

For Socialite Auctions.

For the warm-up, we put the Socialite Auctions wordmark on the toiletry bags, pressed blind into navy over deep brown.

Then the auction itself, one beat per product. First, the paddle goes up. We laid its face out like a coin, the wordmark arched around 2010 – the year the bidding began.

The black tag carries it in gold. Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

Next, the hammer comes down. A key changes hands the moment it does, so the fob carries the gavel mid-strike over the one word that seals a sale.

The black fob takes the gavel in gold; on warm tan it presses blind.

Then the catalog. We pressed a lot card into the base of the tray, LOT 1 above their own words, "Forever pieces, timeless style." Whatever lands in it at day's end gets catalogued.

And finally, provenance – their word for whose hands a thing has passed through and how well it was kept. The journals carry a collector's swing tag stamped with it in the cover's corner, because a journal is where the provenance of one's own days gets written.

In deep wine and pale greige. It looks genuinely beautiful.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
