Taste Travel Co. × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.

A July study.

Taste Travel Co. is Lauren Harvey's practice, founded in 2023, and she works it as both travel advisor and certified travel coach. She plans bespoke trips “rooted in culture, connection and thoughtful details,” with particular weight given to food and art, and she describes herself as a lifelong traveler and avid foodie who learns a place by wandering its streets and eating what the locals eat. Our own file places her in Denver, though we hold that loosely.

The mark is what asked for the study. A black vintage serif TASTE TRAVEL, with a small magenta four-point star set in the gap between the words and a modest co. tucked beneath. Wordmarks this restrained are becoming scarce; most practices this young reach for a crowded lockup. Hers trusts its letterforms and spends its single drop of color on a waypoint, which is precisely what a luggage tag wants.

The mark, as found

Pressed

Sangria leather, deep and wine-dark, answers the magenta of their star, while pale gray-sand follows the quiet ground of their pages. Black carries the gold foil, as it always does. The star worried us at stamp scale; a four-point device that small can close up into a blot under the press. On the renders it held, points crisp on every hide, though we would still cut a test die before promising anything.

The route ends at the table

For the companion we drew one upright dinner fork and let its handle become the journey. Below the shoulder the handle runs as a bold dashed line in the manner of a map route, swaying through a single soft S-curve down to one small filled dot, the departure point. Beneath that, TASTE TRAVEL in plain capitals, her little four-point star holding the gap between the words. We pressed it lengthwise on the same leathers. The joke is gentle and, we think, true to her work: every itinerary she plans seems to end at a table.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
