Taylor Fox × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies in leather.

An August study.

For Taylor Fox.

First, your own rule – a physical tag never runs out of battery. We drew the battery and made the words the charge, packed to the walls, permanently full.

It looks genuinely beautiful.

We ran it lengthwise on three tags loud enough to spot from the far side of the carousel. The black one carries the design in gold.

Next, we pressed the same die on the journals, because paper runs on the same battery.

Then the catchall tray. A suitcase rides the carousel above IT ALWAYS COMES BACK – true of every checked bag, even the one that took three extra days to reach Germany, and just as true of whatever lands in the tray by the door.

After that, a compass whose needle rests level: ORD holds one end, LGA the other, BOTH WAYS HOME underneath. We stamped it on the keychains, since keys are the other instrument that points home. On the black fob it goes in gold, the way a good instrument gets brassed.

The toiletry bags take a round seal – a boot sole at the center, FIELD TESTED around the rim, the two words a shelf of gear has to earn. We stamped it low in the corner, golden tan over chestnut.

Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

And finally, the passport covers. An arrival stamp, ticked around the edge like real rubber, with an empty graticule globe at the center – THIRTY COUNTRIES over AND COUNTING, the count left open on purpose. One cover in passport navy, one in pale sea-blue.

Looks absolutely gorgeous when stamped onto the leather.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
