Sutton Early Learning Center × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

An August study.

For Sutton Early Learning Center.

First, the warm-up. We took the Tecumseh T exactly as it is and pressed it blind into the corner of the toiletry bags – golden tan over deep brown, the leather playing the mark's own orange and near-black.

Then we took the district's refrain, "Every Student. Every Day.", and set it where those words are first met – on the ruled lines of a beginner's writing tablet. The last letter of DAY is still dashed, a letter mid-trace. Somebody is learning it right now.

We pressed it lengthwise on a family of luggage tags. Golden tan and pale greige take it as a blind deboss; the black tag carries the design in gold.

Next, keychains in the school pair, golden tan and black. The black fob takes the gold pass.

The catchall tray is where every day ends – keys and pocket change landing on the ruled lines.

And finally, the journals, where the design belongs most – writing rules on the cover of a book that waits to be written in. Golden tan and deep brown, pressed blind in the lower corner. It looks genuinely beautiful.
