The Avenue Church × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

An August study.

For The Avenue Church.

First, we took the church at its word and drew the avenue – a straight tree-lined road running into a half-risen sun, THE AVENUE arched over the scene and MORRISTOWN set beneath it. The trio runs pale sea-blue and golden tan. The black tag carries the stamp in gold.

Next, keychains. We bent a chain of paper-doll figures into a complete circle, grown-ups and kids joined at the hand, and set FIND YOUR PEOPLE at the center – a key opens a door, and this is who waits behind the right one. One fob is pale sea-blue, the other black. The black fob takes the gold.

Then the toiletry bags, warm tan over deep brown. In the corner we braided three strands above STRONGER TOGETHER, their own line, so the words travel with whoever packs the bag.

For the catchall tray, in golden tan, we set LOVE & HOPE around one grand ampersand. At the end of the day the tray gathers keys and pocket change, and the two words the church exists to hand people sit underneath all of it.

And finally, the journals, deep green and warm tan, made for sermon notes. We drew the hill of Psalm 24 with a path switchbacking to its crown, CLEAN HANDS and PURE HEART ringed around it – the climb the whole church is walking.

It looks genuinely beautiful.
