The Hello Agency × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.

A July study.

The Hello Agency is a full-service travel agency in Charleston, South Carolina, founded on Southern hospitality and working with clients across the globe. Every trip is treated as personal. Their care runs the whole arc of one, from the first inquiry to the day the traveler comes home, with advisors acting as thoughtful advocates who hold the details so the trip feels considered and seamless. The name does what Charleston does. It greets you at the door.

Their mark earns the welcome. An ornate white skeleton key lies lengthwise on a deep blue field, a fleur-de-lis worked into the bow at left and a tassel flowing up off the shaft, with THE HELLO AGENCY beneath in large, high-contrast serif capitals. A skeleton key with a tassel is already luggage; it wants a tag the way a trunk wants a label. The white identity was also half a gift to us, since a mark that lives as light on a dark ground has done a stamper's first thinking about relief. We did worry that the tassel's flowing line would muddy at stamp scale. In the renders it keeps its whip, though we would still walk that curve with a loupe before cutting steel.

The Hello Agency mark

Pressed lengthwise

Blueberry answers the deep field their white identity was drawn for, and gray-sand gives the ornate linework a quiet Southern-parlor neutral to rest in. Black is the automatic third, and it carries the gold. Run lengthwise, the key gets the whole tag, bow to tassel.

The key says hello

The companion sends the key back to its first job. A hotel key fob with the skeleton key hung beside it, and HELLO set inside the fob where the room number used to live. The agency's opening word, waiting at the desk.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
