TransAtlas Travel × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

A September study.

For TransAtlas Travel.

For the warm-up, we pressed the TransAtlas Travel globe onto the luggage tags. The mark is gold on their own site, and it stays gold here – foil on the golden arizona tan and on black, with a blind press on navy.

Next, a stamp for the way they actually travel. Their site says they never check a bag – so we drew the bag, a compact suitcase under the words CARRY ON. It reads both ways: the case that stays with you, and the instruction to keep going.

We pressed it into the corner of the toiletry bags, caramel over dark espresso – the classic luggage leathers – and onto the keychains in caramel. The black fob carries it in gold.

Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

Then, the signature journey. We set the Eiffel Tower at one end and the old stone gate of Bordeaux at the other, and swung a dashed route between them – PARIS to BORDEAUX, the pairing their hosted tour is built on.

It runs across the arizona tray and into the corner of the journals – one in deep wine for the tastings, one in pale greige, the color of Bordeaux stone.

And finally, the one we took straight from their philosophy. Their site calls international travel a doorway to intercultural understanding and friendship – so we built the doorway. A door stands open onto the meridians of a globe, over the words THE WORLD NEXT DOOR.

It replaces the monogram on the passport covers, pressed blind in navy and in deep wine – the two colors a passport most often comes in.

It looks genuinely beautiful.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
