Travel Network Morgantown × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.
A July study.
Travel Network Morgantown is an independent travel agency, and our notes place it in Morgantown, West Virginia. The agency states its promise plainly: “With over 25 years of trusted service, we make travel planning effortless. From romantic getaways to family adventures, we craft personalized experiences with unbeatable value and expert support at every step.” A quarter century of booking other people's departures shapes how a business talks, and these pages read like someone who has answered the same worried question a thousand times and grown kind about it.
Browse the site and the catalogue tilts toward the unhurried end of travel. Viking's river and ocean journeys sit beside Explora's ultra-luxury ships, and a twelve-day Pharaohs & Pyramids itinerary drifts down the Nile in the middle of it all. What asked for the study was the footer logo, a blue italic wordmark leaning forward beside a round globe wrapped in speed lines. That blue is a deep, electric ultramarine, and the letters are already in motion. A mark like that wants to be slowed down and pressed into something that stays put.
The mark, as found

Pressed lengthwise
Blueberry follows the deep navy that runs under the site's travel photography, and turquoise follows the open-water blues at its edges. Black carries the gold foil.

The Effortless Line
Their tagline hands over one word, effortless, and the companion takes it literally. A globe fills the upper two thirds of the tag, its graticule crossing at nine points, each marked with a small solid dot. The network. One bold dashed route enters at the lower left and sweeps up through three of those dots, leaving past the rim as a small plane climbing at forty-five degrees, with EFFORTLESS in plain capitals beneath. We wondered whether nine dots would crowd a tag this small; at stamping depth the unconnected ones settle into background, and the single drawn line does the arguing.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
