Turner Global Travel × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.
A July study.
Turner Global Travel is Kathleen Turner's agency in Meridian, Idaho. Kathleen, a CTA, came to travel from a high-tech project-management career, and it shows; her itineraries hold their dates and hand off cleanly, and nobody stands in a terminal wondering what comes next. Her husband Ken, whose background is financial advising, works alongside her. The two were longtime Northern Californians before settling in Idaho, so the people plotting your routes have rerouted a whole life of their own. The agency builds small-group getaways and river cruises, and custom journeys of most other shapes, all beginning from a planning prompt we admire for its bluntness: “your PEOPLE, your PASSION, your PLACES.”
What pulled us in first was the headline they own outright, “Turn Miles into Memories.” Then the mark held us. Inside a small circle, warm orange mountains rise over layered turquoise water, and a thick navy swoosh crosses the whole scene, lifting at its right edge into a tiny airplane mid-climb. The route becomes the aircraft that flies it. A stamp loves a drawing like that.

Pressed lengthwise
A pale sea-blue follows the layered water of the circular scene, and a navy-blue picks up the deep swoosh and its climbing airplane. Black, as ever, carries the gold foil. The largest logo their site serves is 225 pixels wide, far too coarse for a die, so what you see here was pressed from our faithful redraw at stamping resolution.
The odometer rolls over
Their headline does a quiet mechanical thing if you sit with it, so we drew the mechanism. A dashboard odometer frozen mid-turn: MILES is curving away over the top of the drum, half-height and squashed, while MEMORIES has just rolled up into place, full and readable. Beneath the housing runs the plain line, TURN MILES INTO MEMORIES. The drum turns one way only, which is roughly how travel works on a person.
We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
