Unforgettable Trips × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.

A July study.

Unforgettable Trips calls itself “a full-service travel agency,” based in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and its homepage opens on a creed: a belief in “making lifetime memories through travel.” The wordmark suits the creed. Lowercase serif letters in a deep, settled navy, and beneath them a small compass rose held between two horizontal rules, the way a chapter ornament sits in an old atlas. A mark that quiet is already more than halfway to being a stamp, which is why it moved to the front of the July queue.

We did wonder whether the compass rose would survive at luggage-tag scale. On screen it is a small, tidy device; under a die it becomes a cluster of hairline points. It held, though the two rules that frame it do more of the work than we expected, and we let them.

The mark, as found

Pressed lengthwise

Blueberry follows the deep navy that carries the whole identity, and gray-sand follows the pale, even ground their pages rest on. Black is the automatic third and takes the gold foil.

The Reminder Knot

Tie a string around your finger and you remember; we tied ours around a suitcase. One vintage case drawn front-on, an arched handle at the top edge with a latch tick to either side. A single string wraps the front from top to bottom and finishes in a small bow beside the handle, its loops spread like a moth at rest. Beneath the case, one line in plain capitals: LIFETIME MEMORIES. The phrase is theirs; the knot is how a traveler promises to keep it.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
