Wasatch Travel × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.

A July study.

Wasatch Travel plans journeys from the Heber Valley in Utah, under the mountain front that lends the agency its name. Their promise fits in one owned line, “We sell the World!”, and the current trip log backs it up: recent itineraries run from a South Africa safari to cruising the Australian coast, with Iceland and Tahiti in between. They keep a bespoke-Europe niche alongside the tropics, and they have a particular gift for multigenerational trips, the kind that must hold a grandmother and a nine-year-old happily inside the same fortnight.

The badge is what drew us. A compact blue-gray circle, double-bordered, its lower half filled with layered Wasatch silhouettes under pale diagonal bands of sky. At the upper left a tiny white airplane climbs up and to the right, its contrail curving down the whole left edge of the ring, with WASATCH over TRAVEL in bold white capitals across the mountain field. An agency that sells the whole world and still stamps its own home peaks on the mark keeps its feet planted somewhere real, which is much of why it presses so well.

Two leathers follow the badge home: blueberry for its deepest slate mountain and border tones, and country gray for the misty sky bands. Black carries the gold foil, as it always does here.

The world, sold

For the companion die we took them at their word. A bold globe, drawn as a plain longitude-and-latitude grid, with a short string looping off its upper-right edge to a small tilted sales tag, punched at one corner and reading SOLD. Beneath it, one line in plain capitals: WE SELL THE WORLD, their own phrase, with the exclamation point set aside for the die. An early sketch kept their little airplane circling the globe; the design read cleaner once we let the tag do the talking.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
