Three luggage-tag studies for Waves of Change
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world organizations.
An August study.
A page turns, a path appears, and a line becomes clear
The most recently indexed first-party description of Waves of Change presented an executive-coaching and mental-health practice specializing in professional development for professional adults and licensed therapists. It identified Dr. Alyx Rivera-MacTernan as a licensed therapist, clinical educator, and systems thinker whose public focus included purpose, leadership development, career reinvention, and professional identity.
The domain currently resolves to an inactive Wix holding page, so no present logo, palette, or type system could be verified responsibly. These independent studies therefore do not pretend to transform a current mark. They work from the verified name and service language only: a wave turns the page of a book, a receding tide organizes stepping stones into a route, and one continuous line moves from a loose knot into a calm wave. The Wix screen and its graphics were not used as brand evidence.
As leather luggage tags, the ideas could be considered for approved workshop cohorts, facilitator recognition, professional retreats, conference travel, collaborators, or practice milestones. They make no claim about therapy, recovery, burnout, or health outcomes, and they are not directed toward clinical clients. Each first read stays concrete—the next page, a walkable path, an untangled cord—while the second reading reflects change made navigable and purposeful.
Leather and treatment
Deep teal, muted sea blue, and natural tan form a proposed ocean-derived leather family; these are presentation colors, not claimed brand colors. Tonal impressions keep the drawings calm and professional. Antique-brass on tan offers one warmer milestone treatment without inventing an identity system.
The three concepts
1. Wave Turns the Page
An open book holds one page mid-turn, its curling edge shaped like a single wave. The viewer sees a new chapter first; only then does the name Waves of Change become literal through the useful action of turning forward.
2. Tide Sorts the Stones
A receding tide line leaves a sequence of stepping stones arranged into a clear path. It is a beach route at first glance and, at second, a systems-thinking picture of scattered pieces becoming navigable without promising a personal outcome.
3. One Line Untangled
One continuous cord begins in a loose knot and resolves into a calm wave. The object remains a plain piece of line made orderly, while its uninterrupted path connects professional reinvention, clarity, and the practice name in one economical gesture.
These are independent design studies for appropriate team, partner, collaborator, adviser, vendor, volunteer, or client occasions. No affiliation, approval, or endorsement is implied. Every image is a render used to test the object before cutting a physical die.
