Whimsie Luxury Travel × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping study
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world marks.
A July study.
Whimsie Luxury Travel is Winnie's practice in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey, built on the conviction that travel planning needs a human touch. The itineraries are promised original and lively, sworn off the cookie-cutter kind, and behind that promise sit personalized curation and close working relationships with hotels and tour operators. The little details, as the site tells it, come from listening to what a client actually wishes for.
What asked for this study was the name. Whimsy spelled Whimsie is whimsy made deliberate, a flourish committed to in writing, and the wordmark keeps a second, quieter gesture: the phrase “TRAVEL WELL” arcing over its last letters like a blessing said on the doorstep. A mark that hides its warmth in small type belongs in leather, where small type is the trade.
The mark, as found

Pressed lengthwise
We tried the wordmark upright first and the arc crowded the strap slot, so lengthwise it went, the way the word reads. Blueberry holds the deep editorial field the identity lives on, and Indian-summer warms it toward the coral of their companion W. Black takes the gold foil.

Travel well
The arc handed us the second design. A coin mid-drop into a storybook wishing well, “TRAVEL WELL” above it, so the send-off and the wish share one small ceremony. We set this one portrait; a falling coin wants a vertical tag.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
