From Scratch – a leather stamping collection of kitchen wisdom
From the Practice Log – Shops Volume II of an ongoing series of original leather stamping studies.
A September study.
From Scratch – a small collection written in kitchen language, for people whose best things are homemade. Five designs, each pressed from its own black-and-white die.
First, the crest of the whole line. We crossed a rolling pin with a wooden spoon and arched MADE FROM SCRATCH over the crossing – true of a good cake, and true of most lives worth admiring.

The golden tan tray takes it at full size. It looks genuinely beautiful.

Next, a sign for the door of your life. GONE FOR SECONDS hangs from its nail, tilted the way a just-flipped sign hangs – for the traveler who went back for another helping of the world.

It travels in vivid magenta and in pale sea-blue. Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

The black tag carries the design in gold.

Then, the sassiest of the five. A crowned sugar cube under the words SWEET ENOUGH ALREADY – a keychain that declines the sugar on your behalf.

The black fob carries the crown in gold.

After that, the morning. We set a round loaf on the horizon where the sun should be, its scoring fanned out like rays, and wrote RISE AND SHINE beneath – the bake and the day begin the same way. It presses into the corner of the toiletry bags, warm tan over chestnut.

And finally, the journal, where the half-baked belongs. A bowl of dough swelling past its own rim above the words STILL RISING – every idea starts that way, and so does everyone still becoming something. In pale greige, near the color of raw dough, and in pale rose.

Looks absolutely gorgeous when stamped onto the leather.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
