Good Marks, Volume I-B – a leather collection for recognition gifts
A September study – Volume I-B.
Good Marks – a small collection about the oldest work a mark can do, telling the person who holds it that they count. Four designs for the gifts that say well done and welcome aboard.
First, we counted. Four strokes stood waiting and we let the fifth cut across them – COUNTED IN, for the day someone stops being new and starts being crew.
Looks great when stamped onto the leather – one keychain in navy blueberry, one in honeyed russet.
Next, we folded a paper plane and sent it climbing – one loop on the way up, then the long rise, with YOU'LL GO FAR written under the flight line. A luggage tag was born to carry that compliment, so the design runs the full length of the tag.
The black tag carries the gold.
Deep wine and pale sea-blue take the same press blind.
The plane rides the dopp kits too, caramel over dark espresso, stamped small in the lower corner. Looks absolutely gorgeous when stamped onto the leather.
Then we pinned on a rosette – heavy pleats around a single star, with WELL EARNED beneath. It sits in the lower corner of a journal the way a medal sits on a chest, in deep wine or in dark espresso.
And finally, the one we liked the most. A tree keeps every year it earns. We drew the rings and ran YEAR AFTER YEAR straight through them, then set the whole medallion at generous size on the golden tan tray.
It looks genuinely beautiful.
