Known By Heart – a leather gift collection in the giver's voice, Volume I-D
From the Practice Log – Shops Waterfall, Volume I-D: an independent gift study.
A September study.
Known By Heart is a small collection of leather gifts that speak in the giver's voice. Each design says the thing you would want to say while handing the gift over – pressed into luggage tags, keychains and the rest of a five-product line.
First, the luggage tag for the one who is always leaving. We set COME BACK WITH STORIES in a single line along the tag's length, with a swallow gliding in ahead of the words and its flight path sweeping under them like one long underline – a send-off that asks for a better souvenir than a postcard.
It looks genuinely beautiful. The black tag carries the words in gold; the caramel and the deep forest green take the blind press.

Next, the keychain for a first car or a first front door. We cut a solid keyhole and left YOURS NOW open inside it in white letters – the fob wears the keyhole, and the key on the ring does the rest. Warm poppy red for the celebration, navy for the quiet handover.
Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

Then, the toiletry bag for the man nobody can shop for. PACKED WITH CARE arcs over a shaving brush and a razor, crossed and tied together with a small bow of string where they meet – pressed small into the bag's lower corner, discovered in private, which is how the words are meant. The stack pairs a honeyed russet bag with a deep espresso one.

Then, the catchall tray for the end of the day. EMPTY YOUR POCKETS arcs across the top of the circle, STAY A WHILE answers from the bottom, and between them a ring of drawn pocket things – a house key, a wristwatch and so on – circles a center we left empty on purpose. The real pocket contents land there every evening, on golden tan leather.
Looks absolutely gorgeous when stamped onto the leather.

And finally, the journal for the one who writes everything down, and for the one who keeps meaning to. A string tied in a bow around a raised finger – the oldest reminder there is – stands above SO YOU WON'T FORGET in the front panel's lower corner. One journal in chestnut, one in navy.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
