The San Lorenzo Line – a leather collection from the San Lorenzo Valley
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of leather stamping studies.
A September study. Volume I-A.
A small exhibition of the San Lorenzo Valley, pressed into leather. Five designs follow the water down from the old grove to the sea.
First, we drew the whole valley as one winding double line – road and river in a single stroke – dropping through Boulder Creek, Brookdale, Ben Lomond and Felton before it runs off the edge TO THE SEA.

It looks genuinely beautiful.

On the golden tan tray the line gets the most room to wander.

Next, the grove – two trunks too big for any frame, and between them the words everyone ends up obeying on that trail: LOOK UP.

Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

On the toiletry bags the grove wears bark colors – honeyed russet over dark espresso.

Then we sent a steelhead home – hatched in this river, back from the sea to the same gravel. HOME WATER is what anglers call the stretch they know by heart.

On navy, the fish runs the tag lengthwise.

Then the rock by the road, the one the valley keeps repainting. Ours wears only hearts.

The keychain in warm red looks just awesome.

And finally, the one we liked the most. The ridges above the grove still hold sand dollars and shark teeth in their stone, so we pressed a sand dollar and wrote the finding around it – AN OCEAN WAS HERE.

We put it on pale greige, the color of the sand it slept in. It looks absolutely gorgeous when stamped onto the leather.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
