Shelf Life – a leather collection for readers and makers
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies, this time a collection of original leather designs.
A September study.
Volume I-B · Commercial-Fit Independent Study
Shelf Life is a small collection of original leather designs about the life that gathers around books and worktables. Five stamps, one for each object in the kit – from a pocket keychain to a traveling bag.
First, we folded a page corner over a keychain – WHERE I LEFT OFF. Keys hold your place in a day the way a dog-ear holds your place in a book.

Looks great when stamped onto the leather – once in warm red, once in deep green.

Next, we set EVERY BOOK WAS BLANK ONCE in the journal's lower corner, like the title page of a book that hasn't happened yet. One cover is deep wine, the other pale greige – a binding and its page.

Then, we ringed the catchall tray with the day's small finds – a key here, a guitar pick there – and named the dig POCKET ARCHAEOLOGY.

It looks genuinely beautiful pressed into the golden tan.

After that, we put a metronome on the toiletry bag, wand mid-swing, with DAILY PRACTICE underneath. The morning ritual keeps time wherever the bag wakes up.

And finally, the one we liked the most. We drew an open book in flight – pages spread like wings – and set CHAPTER TWO beneath it, for anyone whose next chapter begins at a departure gate.

The black tag carries the design in gold; deep wine and warm tan carry it blind.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
