Small Keeps – a leather collection about holding onto good things
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of leather stamping studies.
A September study. Volume I-C.
Small Keeps is a collection about holding onto good things. Four short phrases, each pressed into the leather object that already does the holding.
First, we tied a small parcel to a homing pigeon and set BRING SOMETHING BACK around it – standing orders for every good trip, and for whoever stayed home.

It looks genuinely beautiful.

The same bird rides the lower corner of the toiletry bags, warm tan over chestnut.

Next, we wrapped WORTH KEEPING around the little bow you tie to remember something by. A keychain has been keeping that promise all along.

Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

Then, for the journals, we put a trout in mid-leap above WRITE IT DOWN – the good idea and the one that got away are the same fish.

And finally, we arced EMPTY YOUR POCKETS over the small cargo a day leaves behind, at home on the golden tan tray where it all lands each evening.

Looks absolutely gorgeous when stamped onto the leather.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
