The Golden Hour Collection – Golden, Colorado, stamped in leather

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies, this one a collection of original designs.

A September study. Volume I-C.

The Golden Hour Collection – four stamps for Golden, Colorado, pressed into leather.

First, we drew the arch over Washington Avenue front-on, welcome and all, with the little sign swinging beneath.

The black tag carries the lettering in gold, the way the arch itself does.

Next, the American dipper, the songbird that walks underwater. We caught it mid-curtsy on a creek boulder, CLEAR CREEK arced below.

Looks great when stamped onto the leather – pale sea-blue for the water, caramel for the canyon.

Then we sent Clear Creek winding across a journal cover, a single tube drifting the middle bend. TAKE THE LONG WAY sits beneath it.

And finally, the stamp the collection is named for. We set a low sun half into the water – GOLDEN HOUR above, GOLDEN COLORADO below. On the golden tan tray it is golden hour twice over.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
