The Kept Day × Leatherius Woodman – a leather stamping collection about everyday attention

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

A September study – Volume I-C.

The Kept Day is a small leather collection about the ordinary attention a day runs on – the writing down and the setting down, the going out and the coming home. Five original stamps across five everyday goods, from the journal to the luggage tag.

First, the journals. We drew a fountain-pen nib and let one line of ink fall from its tip, loop once, and run out flat beneath the words IN YOUR OWN HAND. A page slows you down precisely because the hand is yours. It sits small in the corner, on deep wine and on pale greige.

Next, the catchall tray. We lettered THE DAY GOES HERE at the center and set the pocket-things orbiting the words in solid silhouette – a key at twelve o'clock, the rest following round the dial. The tray collects them all back every evening.

Looks great when stamped onto the golden tan.

Then, the keychains. A solid keyhole plate above THE WAY BACK IN – which is what a key is, every evening of its working life. On caramel and on forest green.

For the toiletry bags, we raised a low sun over a plain horizon and set BEGIN AS USUAL beneath it. Wherever the bag wakes up, the first ten minutes of the day go on exactly as they always do. It sits in the lower corner of the warm gray bag, above its chestnut partner.

And finally, the one we liked the most. A suitcase up on two little legs, caught mid-stride, walking its own caption down the length of the tag: OUT SEEING THINGS. We ran it lengthwise on golden tan and on pale sea-blue. The black tag carries the same stride in gold.

Looks absolutely gorgeous when stamped onto the leather.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
