To Be Continued – a leather collection for readers and makers

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies on real-world logos.

A September study.

Volume I-C.

To Be Continued is a small leather collection about unfinished business of the best kind – the page kept for later, the row promised before bed. Five original stamps, pressed across a small family of goods, from luggage tags to journals.

First, we borrowed the lending card from the back pocket of a library book and gave it a luggage tag's actual job. Under RETURN TO OWNER run the ruled lines of a much-stamped ledger, and the bottom entry is already filled in – HOME.

The black tag carries the design in gold, the way a title sits on a dark spine. Warm red and pale greige take it blind, straight into the leather.

Next, the keychain. A ball of yarn with its loose end climbing toward the ring, so the hardware finishes what the strand begins – and beneath it, the knitter's honest bedtime bargain, ONE MORE ROW. We pressed it in pale sea-blue and in deep green.

Then the shape every reader makes and every spine mourns – a paperback parked face-down, holding its place while its owner steps away. BACK IN A MINUTE, says the toiletry bag from the edge of the sink.

We lettered LOST AND FOUND onto a little bureau sign and let the usual suspects orbit it – a door key, a stray button and so on. The tray underneath does the finding.

And finally, the one we liked the most. TO BE CONTINUED in a bookman's capitals, the ribbon already hanging beside the words – the only honest way to close a day's page. We bound it in deep wine and in deep green.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
