Worth Keeping – a leather collection about the things families save – Volume I-D
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of leather stamping studies.
A September study – Volume I-D.
We call this collection Worth Keeping – leather gifts about the things families hold onto and the games they keep playing. It runs from a keychain handed over after a good afternoon to a journal meant to outlast its first owner.
First, we drew a child's coaster wagon with its load strapped in and its handle out front, and set IN IT FOR THE LONG HAUL around it – the pledge every good gift makes. We ran it lengthwise across the tags, starting with wagon red.

The two-bag kit carries the same pledge, pressed into honeyed russet over deep brown.

Next, checkers. One piece has just cleared the corner of the board, and under the grid we wrote YOUR MOVE – the two words that keep an afternoon going. The fobs come in checker colors, one warm red and one black.

Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

Then the catchall tray. We framed its base with an empty exhibit case and set a small engraved label into the bottom rule: PERMANENT COLLECTION. Whatever lands in the golden tan leather at the end of the day joins the exhibit.

And finally, the one we liked the most. An oval bookplate with a rocking chair at its center and AS I REMEMBER IT arched above – a journal for the family's rememberer, so the story gets written the way they tell it. It comes in deep green and in deep wine.

It looks genuinely beautiful.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
If you'd like any of these made real, or anything here changed – say hello through our contact page.
