HEARD FOR MILES | Chadron, Nebraska leather | Leatherius Woodman
From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of stamping studies about places told in leather.
An August study.
For Chadron, Nebraska.
First, we drew the town the way its neighbors know it – one mast on the pine ridge and rings of signal widening over the grass, CHADRON across the sky, HEARD FOR MILES under the hill.

On the luggage tags the trio runs deep pine green for the ridge and warm caramel tan for the buckskin prairie. The black tag takes the stamp in gold – the signal after dark, when radio carries farthest.

The same die presses the journals in deep pine green and navy – the day book, where ball scores and rain warnings get written down before anyone reads them out loud. Looks great when stamped onto the leather.

Next, the long view – grass in the foreground and the hills standing up in ponderosa, a creek finding its way between them. WHERE THE PLAINS RISE, because here is where the Nebraska plains finally do.

On the toiletry bags it sits low in the corner, honeyed russet over dark espresso – clay bank and pine shadow. It looks genuinely beautiful.

The catchall tray in golden tan gives the scene its full size.

And finally, the one we liked the most. Before any mast stood on the ridge, the meadowlark held the morning slot from the fence line – beak open, the same rings of song. THE FIRST BROADCAST.

Keychains in golden tan and navy – bird and sky. They look just awesome.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.
