The Three Forks Collection – leather goods for Three Rivers, California

From the Practice Log – an ongoing series of leather stamping studies.

An August study.

Three Rivers, California – where three forks of the Kaweah come down out of the Sierra and Highway 198 climbs toward the big trees. We designed a small leather collection for the people who stop here, and named it Three Forks.

First, the collection's namesake. Three currents braid into one – and the merged river runs on to underline the name of its own town.

On the luggage tags the design runs lengthwise, in the canyon's own colors – deep forest green and honeyed russet, with a pale sea-blue tag for the water. It looks genuinely beautiful.

Next, the same current crosses the toiletry bags – honeyed russet over deep espresso, bark over forest-floor shadow.

Then the catchall tray in golden tan, with the confluence pressed at its center – the dish by the door for whatever a river day leaves in your pockets.

Next, the journals. A sequoia keeps the slowest journal on earth, one line a year – so we let the sentence EVERY GOOD YEAR LEAVES A RING run the circumference as the outermost ring itself.

Looks great when stamped onto the leather – chestnut and deep green, pressed in the lower corner where a signature would go.

And finally, the keychains. CHAINS REQUIRED, set like a winter sign on the road up, with a run of tire chain below – a rule every ring of keys already obeys.

We made this out of love. Leatherius Woodman is on a mission to create and share artifacts of beauty, craft and love – this study is one of them, and we hope the feeling is mutual. Every image is a render – how we prototype before cutting a die.

If these belong in Three Rivers and you'd like them made real, or anything here changed – say hello through our contact page.
